I Did It!

I woke up this morning, planning to take Emma to the bus stop and then come home have a nice hot shower and start my cross stitching project.  But then I realized, I didn't walk Monday due to Mike not having work.  Normally I walk Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  So, instead of Monday I walked Tuesday.  I thought to myself, I should walk today but I still have Thursday and Friday.  Correction, Emma has a stupid Professional Development Day on Friday which means I had to walk today and tomorrow.  Fine.  A big sigh, and then get my ass in gear.

After being "that" Mom who waves to her child as the bus pulls away, blowing kisses like a fool, I pull out my phone and start my runkeeper.  I didn't wait around and chat with the other moms and dads that are also at the same stop.  I wanted this walk over with.

The way this application works, is that it tracks your walks, your average pace, your timing, your calories burned etc.  I have mine set up to coach while I walk.  So for every kilometer I walk it tells me all the info I need.  But then it also says in the biggest "bitchy betty" voice: YOU ARE BEHIND YOUR TARGET PACE BY  (enter amount of time here).

Well guess what ladies and gentlemen.  My target pace is ten minutes per kilometer and BITCHY BETTY shut her pie hole.  This lady was walking at 9:36 seconds!  It was the first time ever I had met that pace, and to tell you the truth I nearly shit my pants!  I kept it under 11 minutes for the first time ever!  You know what......IT FEELS GREAT!

I am so proud of myself.  So here are my stats for today:

Here is another screen shot, so you can see my progress since September

Anyways, I just wanted to tell all of you that amazing tidbit of information today.  I'm flying high!

I Pray For World Peace

Today my intention was to sort through fundraising materials for my daughters school.  Its one of my duties to go through the mail for the student counsel, its mainly offers for fundraising.  I've got a stack of it to go through since I was not informed we had a mail box for student counsel.  Hey, I'm new to this stuff and a heads up would have been nice.  Ah well, to be honest I love paper work!  I'm weird, you'll just have to get over it!

I was also hoping to get more cross stitching done today.  I came up with this idea.  Since, I can't work (reminder: doctor's orders) I need to do something to help contribute to the home.  There are more AVON, Scentsy, Epicure, Pampered Chef etc. reps in my area than you can shake a stick at.  So what is a girl to do?  I'm gonna cross stitch my ass off!  I'm gonna make all sorts of goodies.  This time next year there is a Christmas craft sale, and I figure if I can make enough cross stitch items, I'll be able to sell them at the craft sale.  Anyways, I have the idea....now I just need to get all the supplies.  To start its a little pricey but I'll do a little at a time and go from there.

I did however manage to get my walk in.  I track my walks through the application on my IPhone called Run Keeper.  Its an amazing site and I highly recommend it.  If you're already using it...please let me know and we can be friends through that as well!  I'd love to have more supporters on my side.

When I first started walking.  I needed to do it completely by myself.  I wanted to get the routine formed as well as for that routine to become habit.  A lot of people offered to walk with me.  As much as I appreciated it, I turned them down.  I didn't want to start by needing someone with me.  This way if that person could not walk for whatever reason, I didn't have an excuse not to go.  I was ready to start this for myself and I did.  Now if I don't walk (due to bad weather/appointment or whatever) I feel guilty.  I will always do a minimum of three walks a week.  In nine weeks I've missed two walks in one week to complete my minimum.  I do have an excuse.  Its when hurricane Sandy came through.  Of course where I am was no where near the devastation other areas experienced.  However it was extremely wet.  I still feel guilty for not getting those two walks in.

Now for all of my seasoned followers, I'd like to extend an opportunity to you.  Now that I have outed myself....do you have any questions for me?  Anything about the actual me, that you'd like to know?  Leave me a comment and ask away!

Miracles Do Happen

It took Mike (my hubby) and I long time to conceive our daughter.  When we got the news on June 7th 2007 that we were expecting we were elated.  Our families were happy and so very supportive, considering we were also posted half way across the country in the middle of my pregnancy.

We had been married four years before our daughter came into our lives.  We had built our marriage up and traveled together as well.  Humor was, and still is the key to our marriage working.  Sure we've had bumps along the way.  Marriage is certainly work.  Marriage with children is even harder.

Now don't get me wrong.  We love our daughter dearly.  She has brought us so much joy.  She teaches us something new every day.  Mostly....she teaches us patience!  Emma, is nearly five years old now, and is in school full time in junior kindergarden.  So from Monday to Friday (except all the Professional Development days, when she has no school.  Which in my opinion the teachers get way too many of them...but that is another story for another day.) 8:30 to 4:00 I have the day to myself.

What do I do?  Since I do not work?  Well, three days a week I go for my morning walk, straight from the bus stop.  This ensures that I actually do my walk and not have the excuse that my phone rang or an email came in and one thing led to another.  I come home, shower, decide what to pull out of the freezer in preparation for supper.  I make any phone calls to family or friends or business related.  Check email and facebook and twitter.  I will watch any television programs on my DVR that I didn't stay up to watch the night before (thank goodness for DVRs...how did we live without them?  I hate commercials...ha ha ha).  I may read a book, or have coffee with a friend.

Mike, usually comes home for lunch and I always try and have lunch ready for the two of us.  Its a nice 40 minutes together to talk without interruptions.  By the time Emma and I walk home from the bus stop, Mike is usually home within five minutes.  From that moment on...its chaos until 8:30pm.  By then we are ready to crash.  Keep in mind I am not a night owl by any means.

Remember that we are a military family and we get posted quite a bit.  Four postings in 10 years.  Three of those postings I was married to Mike.  Also remember I said we moved half the country away from all our friends and family while I was pregnant?  This means we trusted no one with our daughter.  She hadn't been babysat until just before her 4th birthday, and that was when we were back closer to family.  But it wasn't family who babysat her.  It was a hired teenager saving up for university.

So here is where the miracle came in today.

Mike had today off from work in lieu of Remembrance Day.  Emma had school.  Are you making the connection yet?  That's right folks, 7.5 hours of free babysitting!!!!!!!!  We have never had that much time away from Emma together as a couple.  This was Santa coming early!  This was the 8th wonder of the world!

What did we do you may ask?  Well, I will tell you.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!  And......we did it peacefully!`

Hello!  Welcome to the new and improved Canadian Blogger Girl.  Some of you have known me as CB Michaels or CBG.  Well guess what.  Go on ....guess.  Oh, fine I'll tell you.

I made a choice to quit blogging a long while back.  I'd lost my desire to hide behind an alias.  So I decided to make a big change.  All of my previous posts have been deleted.  They are GONE!  Did I save them?  Nope I did not.  I'm starting fresh.

Now, I'd like to introduce myself.  I'm Kelly!  I'm 32 years old, I'm a military wife, and mother of one daughter, who is now believe it or not, in school full time.  I'm still a stay at home mother, due to medical reasons.  However, I am educated with three diplomas under my belt and I am an administrator of the Facebook group for military wives for the base we are posted to.  I am also co-chair of the student counsel at my daughter's school.  I have one cat and one dog.  I love to read, cross stitch, watch reality television,  and a couple months ago, I decided to start taking care of me. What does that mean?  It means I walk or do an elliptical work out three times a week, and calorie count.

I can't wait to get back into the swing of things.  I can promise a few things.  I'll be posting actual pics of my daily life, stories of things that happen to me and my family, and a little bit of humor.  I'll still complain about things, but this time, I'm owning it.

People have always told me that I should write a book.  I don't know if I should, but I'll start out with the blog and go from there.

So for all you old "minions" you've lost your title.  This is a fresh start, but please comment and let me know you're still here.  For anyone new....leave a comment, introduce yourself and lets take this journey together!
